There are many variations of this diet and some are intended to lower cholesterol and increase dietary fiber. It may be beneficial for preventing heart disease. Despite its popularity, some studies have suggested that it can contribute to weight gain. While no single diet can guarantee a healthy body, the most common vegan diets are those based on the Mediterranean and Paleo diets.

Among the more popular types of diets, the prudent diet is designed for people who are at risk for coronary artery disease. This diet focuses on a high-fiber, low-saturated-fat diet. The prudent diet is low in red meat, poultry, and fish. Keeping these in mind, you’ll find it easier to stick to your plan and lose weight. This is an excellent option if you have diabetes.
