I think it has to do with my metabolism. When I was on medication, I ate like crap and didn’t lose a pound (or more) even though I was eating 500+ calories per day. In order to answer this question, let’s start by defining what a calorie deficit actually is: A calorie deficit occurs when you consume fewer calories than you burn. Calories are units of energy (heat) required for your body to function. We all need them every day to survive and they come from food, whether it’s consumed as “fast foods” or “healthy foods”. When we eat more calories than our bodies require, we store those extra calories in our fat cells. This process is called “consuming calories”. When you eat less calories than your bodies requires, you will lose weight because your body is trying to save up the extra calories for later. Start from the beginning. “weight loss” as you put it, isn’t just about “calories”. Your body can store large amounts of fat if it needs to, and it will do so if you give it the opportunity. There are plenty of ways to shed pounds without having to restrict calories (read up on intermittent fasting) but for most people, restricting calories works better. If you want to lose weight, there’s no need to be afraid of more exercise. You’ve got more than enough muscles to work out without running yourself into the ground. That being said, you don’t really have any excuse for not losing weight. If you’re still sticking with the same old “diet”, then that’s your fault. But if you’re cutting back on carbs (or fats), trying low-fat diets, and doing cardio at least 3 times per week… I’ll bet you’ll see results by next month.
